Bamboo creates practical opportunities to do exactly that. This fast-growing renewable resource can be used to make a wide range of products that, wherever it is practical and appropriate, can replace plastic products or significantly reduce the need for them.
Step by step, a plant can therefore become a real alternative — for the environment, for local production and for new economic opportunities.
But lasting change does not begin with a new material alone.
Just as important is knowledge.
People need to understand why plastic waste is a problem, what happens when plastics are carelessly discarded, how microplastics are created and why openly burning plastic is not a solution.
At the same time, we want to show what alternatives exist and how collecting, reusing, separating and recycling materials can become part of functioning local systems.
Because plastic knows no borders.
If less plastic enters rivers and oceans, the long-term pressure on aquatic ecosystems can also be reduced. Fish and other marine animals are then exposed to fewer plastic particles — and ultimately, the benefits extend far beyond individual regions to people around the world.

When solutions like these work in everyday life, are documented and continuously improved, they can generate valuable experience that may also benefit other communities, regions and countries.
Our ambition is therefore not to solve the global plastic problem overnight.
Our ambition is to start with concrete action, build solutions that work and demonstrate what is possible.
