Official Exchange With The Gambia’s Department of Forestry 🇬🇲🌱
The Bamboo Foundation Gambia does not work in isolation. An important part of developing sustainable, locally rooted solutions is maintaining direct dialogue with the relevant public institutions in The Gambia.
During an official meeting with the Department of Forestry and its Director, Salifu Corr, Omar Darboe and Jens Poppe had the opportunity to present and discuss the Foundation’s goals, progress to date and next steps.
For us, this kind of exchange matters. Lasting environmental progress is strongest when local communities, organisations and public institutions communicate, share knowledge and work towards common objectives.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss our approach: developing bamboo as a sustainable resource, helping protect forests and soils, creating new opportunities for people locally, and exploring natural alternatives that can reduce dependence on selected plastic products over time.
Real change grows through cooperation — and through bringing the right people to the same table.
This dialogue gives our project valuable momentum and helps create the foundation for turning a strong idea into lasting, practical action — in The Gambia and beyond.
And that is exactly what we will continue working towards. 🌍🎋
